BIOGRAPHY
American guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist Mark Searcy has built a career rooted in acoustic blues, Americana, and the rich traditions of American roots music. Over more than two decades, he has released twenty studio albums, published four guitar transcription books, and earned recognition as both a guitarist and songwriter.
A native of Benton, Arkansas, Searcy first picked up the guitar as a teenager before stepping away from music to raise a family and pursue a successful career outside the music industry. A serious work accident that severely damaged several fingers unexpectedly led him back to the instrument during rehabilitation. What began as therapy became a renewed artistic pursuit, leading to an extensive study of pre-war acoustic blues and the music of Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, and other early blues pioneers.
His 2006 debut acoustic blues recording, Blindman's Blues, earned a Texas Music Award nomination for Musician of the Year. In 2014, his instrumental album Hazepipe received the Texas Music Award for Musician of the Year. Along the way, Searcy won the Austin Blues Society Heart of Texas Blues Challenge with the Pickett Searcy Coalition, made three appearances at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, reached the semifinals twice, and was a finalist in the Telluride Acoustic Blues Competition. In 2023, his original composition "Even Dogs Have Bad Days" was named a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
Searcy has shared the stage and/or opened with Walter Trout, Shemekia Copeland, Chris Duarte, The Cash Box Kings, Carolyn Wonderland, Jarikus Singleton, Van Wilks, Ruthie Foster, Moreland & Arbuckle, Carl Weathersby, Seth Walker, Colin Lake, Spot Burnett, Graham Warwick, Will Owen Gage, Ruben V, and Jimmy Spacek. His performances have included Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago, Beale Street in Memphis, the Telluride Blues Festival, Gruene Hall, Luckenbach, Historic Victory Grill, Club Ebony, and Sam's Burger Joint.
Today, Searcy performs primarily as a solo acoustic artist, blending traditional blues, Americana, roots music, original songs, and storytelling while continuing to write and record from his home in the Texas Hill Country.

“Meet Mark Searcy... Performers like Searcy do not simply play their instruments, but rather become their instruments during a performance. Call it soul, call it a gift, or a midnight trade at a lonely cross road, no matter. Searcy has it.” - Lucky Boyd
— My Texas Music
“With Power Of Love, Mark Searcy boldly steps into the 21stcentury guitar spotlight with a highly energized album filled with renewed blues-rock power” - Robert Silverstein
“..as Searcy is an accomplished composer with the ability to fuse jazz, rock, blues, folk, and country. They will certainly find that capturing the same inner soul will be impossible, as Searcy literally melts himself into each cut, a feat that labels him inimitable.” - Lucky Boyd
